According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, there are upwards of 750,000 live land mines in Bosnia. Buried under shallow ground, they are deaf to the end of that country's civil war. Becirovic has chosen a female member of the Bosnian de-miners corps for a study in courage. The tensions and hazards of someone who risks their life daily are aptly portrayed in footage of the heroine probing for and discovering a mine. Her story is exceptionally heroic due to circumstances that force her to acknowledge de-mining first and foremost as a means to provide for her family.
